Excalibur, directed by John Boorman and based on Le Morte d'Arthur, came out in 1981. It is another retelling of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Nigel Terry, who played Archeptolemus in the movie Troy, stars as King Arthur. [1]

The movie Excalibur is the most accurate portrayal of the Arthurian legends according to Le Morte D'Arthur.
In this film there are some differences, however.
Some of which include:
the existence of dragon's breath created by Merlin, a combination of Morgan le fay and Margawse named Morgana, and the grail is acquired by Percivale instead of Sir Galahad as in Le Morte.
The grail quest is sparked by the king's sickness rather than the kingdom's sickness as in the novel. (4)
