Searching for Information

  1. Start with www.google.com, www.dogpile.com, www.altavista.com
  2. Begin with a general search term, then get more specific as needed. When you turn up too much, you know that you have used too general of a search term. When you turn up too little, you may have gotten too specific.
  3. Add the following text to your search: site:.edu. This will make it more likely that you find reliable sources of information.

Adding to the Site

  1. Look for something original, interesting, or important that will add to the enjoyment of the subjects explored through this wiki.
  2. Follow your interests. There is nothing to stop you from becoming the wiki expert on King Arthur, or Shakespeare, or Poetry, or World War I Literature. You can add to our knowledge of a single subject for the entire school year, if that is what you are into. Conversely, you can add to whatever we are currently exploring in class.
  3. SiteCite your sources. If you do not, your contribution will not be graded and will probably be deleted!
  4. Add only reliable, relevant, and school-appropriate material to this site. If you don't know what this looks like, email me before posting and I will tell you if it can be added to the wiki.
  5. Keep the format of this site consistent. Do not delete the work of other students (that's for me to do). You may, however, correct one another's grammar and change the style/format of a particular page, as long as group consensus has been reached.
  6. You MAY NOT add a video to the site without first sending Mr. Bausch the link to the video through his email. You must then wait for Mr. Bausch's approval before posting the video to the site. No exceptions!

Comments

  1. Add whatever comments you wish. Keep them school-appropriate. Do not use this as a forum to attack one another or put one another down. If you do, it will result in discipline/lowering of grade.
  2. The comments section should be fun. Use it to analyze a work or to make fun of it.
  3. Comments will not count toward your grade for the week unless they are particularly pertinent, original, or timely.
  4. Remember that people can easily misinterpret your comments. Please be very careful not to direct sarcasm at anyone and don't SHOUT!
