Galahad is the son of Elaine and Lancelot. When he appears at King Arthur's court, he takes the Siege Perilous at the Round Table. As soon as Arthur knights him, he gets his first vision of the the Grail. He is described as never having been beaten in battle. He is a model knight whose one goal is to find the Chalice, or Grail. On his quest with Perceval and Bors de Ganis, he is able to achieve this. When he sees the Grail, he decides to stay and is described as "foregoing life in order that he may stay pure." He is then known as the Grail Knight. (1)

Sir Galahad, the son of Lancelot and Elaine, was raised in a nunnery. When he was led to King Arthur's court, he became the Siege Perilous. After pulling out the sword that made him the best knight and seeing the Holy Grail in a vision, he along with Perceval and Bors are chosen to go on the Quest for the Holy Grail. He is given a shield with a red cross on it painted with blood by Joseph of Arimathea. When the three met at Carbonek they achieved the Holy Grail. Afterwards, Galahad asked to die. From then on and always, Galahad was known as the "Perfect Knight." (6)
