Uther's brother Pendragon was a prince killed in battle. Uther then inherited the throne and became Uther Pendragon. Merlin, who had been serving Pendragon, became Uther's advisor. For the burial of Pendragon, Uther had Merlin use his magic to summon stones from Ireland. The large stones were set up at Pendragon's burial site and is known today as Stonehenge. (2)

Uther Pendragon was the King of Britain who after falling in love with Igraine, went to war with her husband, Gorlois. During the war, Merlin magically disguised him as Gorlois and he visited Igraine, then becoming the father of Arthur. When the war was over, Uther married Igraine. [1]

Uther pledges to give up his child born of Igraine if Merlin will provide a way for Arthur to sleep with Igraine. (5)
